The Story of Us (Abridged for the Lazy)

Once upon a time, before the Walmart,, a skinny me was pushing credit apps at good ol’ Meijer. This particular evening, working at the U-Scan was a very adorable, nerdy, stocky, dark haired guy, which was my type (I freaking loved Joey in N-Sync. Don’t judge me) named Aaron. Now, I had no confidence to go up and ask him out, so I confided in my good friend April on break about the U-scan guy. Unbeknownst to me, she decided to talk me up to Aaron which led to him asking me out.

The first night we planned a phone call, I got a migraine, so dad answered the phone and told Aaron I’d have to call him the next day. Of course, Aaron took this as I was blowing him off (and he hasn’t been allowed to forget it since) but I did call and after a few weeks and a hilariously entertaining trip to Cedar Point with my BFF Sarah and her man at the time,(omg, the hilarious stuff that went down) we decided to date.

Unfortunately the next 3 years was a tumultuous time. Things just seemed to spiral down. We both got screwed over at work, two terrible slides into debt , the loss of my Grandma and a college disenrollment just was too much and we parted. It wasn’t the greatest of splits but we tried to stay friends. It didn’t go so well, but we stayed in touch.

a year or so later in 2007 I graduated, got a job in DC and moved and he started to come out of his hole he had been stuck in. We had both grown quite a bit. We started talking again and remembered the things we had enjoyed about each other and in August of 2008, we were enagaged. It has been one crazy journey since.

9 incredible years together. Happy Anniversary, Aaron (Tomorrow)

Pyrex, Fairies and Ellicott City: A blissful weekend.

After our Adamstown trip last weekend, I have pretty much put myself on a Antique shopping for Pyrex ban. Now, I didn’t rule out thrifting because, come on, everyone loves the cheap Pyrex. You find it sitting on a shelf, all dirty and cheap and you take it home, clean it up and it’s just beautiful and shiny. You can’t help but feel like you stole it because this perfect piece was so cheap.

I couldn’t help myself Friday on the drive home from Emmitsburg. There are a lot of thrifts along 140 and I just had the feeling that I was going to find a couple good pieces. Boy, did ever!

Filligree, Woodland and Snowflake, Oh my!

The mushrooms were picked up for a friend who loves anything mushroom. This loaf pan is just high on the adorable factor, so she has to own it!

My favorite is the Filigree scroll. I love the black and white Pyrex and it is just so pretty and delicate, Even Hubs was a fan and he usually just rolls his eyes when he sees a new dish on the shelf or sitting on the table, freshly unwrapped from it’s journey home.

Saturday, I decided to break down and go to Ellicott City and see what the shops down there had. Granted immediately after I   arrived and started looking, I remembered why I didn’t go down often in the first place. EXPENSIVE! These women have Pyrex listed in their shops for double what most sensible people would pay. I was sad but I decided, I had drove over here, might as well enjoy the sites as the town itself is a beautiful little historical mountain town.

I found this crazy shop, The “Forget Me Not Factory” and it was sensory overload (in a good way) from the minute you walk in. Fairies, pirates  witches, Mardigras and Christmas all thrown together in a three story hodgepodge that made my heart just happy. I’m glad I didn’t have much money because I could easily go broke in this place (Relevant: I shall be  going back when I get paid!)
